Hi, I’m Snehal Agarwal, a first-year Business Management student at the University of Southampton Delhi (UoSD). Most people think university life is just about lectures, deadlines, and assignments. When I started at UoSD, I wondered what my days would really be like and how I’d balance academics, friendships, campus life, and my own routines in a new place. Now that I’ve settled in, I see that every day is a little different. My days at UoSD include long commutes, daily routines, chats with friends, and some quiet moments too. Even though the schedule stays mostly the same, what happens each day always changes. Here’s what a typical day for me at UoSD looks like.

Starting the Day

My day usually begins early with a long commute on the metro, which takes almost two hours. While it can be tiring, it has become a regular and predictable part of my routine. The journey gives me uninterrupted time to mentally prepare for the day ahead, sometimes by listening to music, sometimes by simply watching the city gradually come to life around me.

After getting off at the Sector 55–56 metro station, I take the college shuttle to campus. By the time I arrive, students are already filtering in, greeting each other, and settling into their day. Once I reach college, I usually meet my friends near the entrance. From there, our first stop is almost always at abCoffee. It’s a familiar space where we grab coffee, catch up briefly, and ease into campus life before heading to class. These few minutes help bridge the shift from commuting to being fully present on  campus.

Academic Sessions

After coffee, I head to my lectures. As a Business Management student, classes often involve discussions, real-world examples, and collaborative activities rather than only textbook-based learning. The academic structure allows room for participation and dialogue, which makes sessions feel more engaging. What I value most is the interactive nature of the classes. There’s space to ask questions, share perspectives, and learn from peers with different viewpoints. Even on quieter days, lectures remain focused and relevant, encouraging us to connect theory with practical contexts.

Lunch Break

By midday, the pace of the day slows slightly, and the campus becomes noticeably busier. We usually grab lunch at Baithak, which is a common choice among students. It offers a wide range of options, from a quick samosa to a chicken bowl, making it convenient for different preferences and schedules. Lunch breaks are less about the food and more about taking a pause. We talk about classes, assignments, upcoming tasks, or sometimes nothing specific at  all. It’s a short pause between lectures that helps us reset before getting back to the rest of the day.

Workshops and Study

Afternoons are usually spent in seminars, workshops, group work, or independent study. Mid-week, especially, tends to be lighter academically, leaving room for career talks, skill-building sessions, and workshops. These are some of my favourite parts of campus life because they offer learning beyond the classroom. Whether it’s a session focused on professional development or an interactive workshop, these experiences make the academic journey feel more rounded. They help bridge the gap between theory and real-world application, which is something I truly value.

Campus Life Moments

One of the things I appreciate most about UoSD is the campus atmosphere. After academic sessions, there’s always something happening: casual hangouts, club activities, or spontaneous conversations in shared spaces. Sometimes we end up in the student pocket space just talking, unwinding, or taking a break from screens and assignments. Over time, these everyday interactions contribute to a sense of familiarity. The campus begins to feel easier to navigate, not just physically, but socially as well. These moments, though small, form an important part of daily university life.

Winding Down

By the end of the day, I usually take some time to wrap things up by checking emails, noting tasks for the next day, or reflecting on what needs attention. Some days I head home immediately, while other days I stay back briefly to finish work or simply enjoy the campus atmosphere a little longer. Despite the long commute back, I often feel satisfied. There’s a quiet sense of accomplishment that comes from having navigated the day, whether it’s from attending lectures, completing tasks, or spending time with friends; there’s a sense of having moved through the day with intention and balance.

A day at UoSD isn’t about anything dramatic or extraordinary, it’s about the small, everyday things. Long metro rides, familiar routines, classes that need focus, coffee breaks with friends, and quiet moments in between slowly start to add up. Some days feel productive, some feel tiring, and some just pass by, but together they create a rhythm that feels comfortable. Over time, what once felt new and slightly overwhelming starts to feel normal. These ordinary days are what really shape college life and make it feel like your own.
