My name is Ishani Saini and I am pursuing MSc in International Management at University of Southampton Delhi. I was eager to explore UK style education and want to experience global learning standards while staying close to home. The experience has been both demanding and rewarding. What I didn’t see coming was how it would reshape the way I think, learn, and express myself. From day one, the classroom experience felt different from what we usually have in India. Instead of passive notetaking I was encouraged to ask questions, challenge ideas and participate actively.
The emphasis on discussion, critical analysis, and presentations was refreshing. Instead of memorising content, I learned to evaluate information and form reasoned argument. Unlike exam-centric systems, assessments here are based on actual case studies that helps us to understand the industry better. The coursework might look intense at first, but the faculty is open to discussions, whether inside classroom or during working hours. Faculty members play an important role in drafting my journey, they encourage me to think critically and share my viewpoints. They also provide constructive feedback on assignments, which helped me improve my skills and manage coursework more efficiently.

Studying with friends makes this experience more enriching. Studying together, working on group assignments, preparing for presentations and sharing ideas with friends have helped me develop both academically and socially. These moments outside the classroom have played a big role in shaping my overall university experience. Campus life is especially vibrant through student clubs and activities. Participating in activities organised by clubs has been incredibly enjoyable, especially during festive times. Being part of club events and working together during Christmas celebrations- decorating, organising activities, and just spending time together has been a key highlight for me. I would also like to mention the Student Experience Team, who have been incredibly supportive whenever it truly mattered. Whether it was guidance or help with student activities, they’ve always been approachable and reliable. Their guidance and accessibility make navigating campus life easier and more reassuring.

Choosing a UK-style education in India has given me the best of both worlds. The interactive teaching, approachable faculty, supportive friends, engaging club activities, and guidance from the Student Experience Team have shaped a well-rounded university experience. This system has helped me move beyond rote learning, think independently, and grow with confidence while enjoying a vibrant campus life that makes learning both meaningful and enjoyable.
